Labor Day Weekend may signal the unofficial end of summer, but on Kiawah, there’s still plenty of time for beach days, bike rides beneath the live oaks, evenings outside and a full lineup of events happening around the island.

Friday: Start Labor Day Weekend at Freshfields Village
Kick off the weekend at Freshfields Village, where Friday offers an easy transition into vacation mode.
Music on the Green returns Friday evening from 6–9 PM, with Java Band performing a complimentary outdoor concert on the Village Green. Bring a blanket or chairs and settle in for live music beneath the Lowcountry sky.
Earlier in the day, Freshfields also has a complimentary Spirit Tasting at Kiawah Spirits from 1–5 PM, along with shopping and dining throughout the Village.
Saturday: Experience a Kiawah Tradition at Mingo Point
Saturday is a great day to experience one of Kiawah’s longstanding traditions.
The Mingo Point Oyster Roast & BBQ returns September 5 for its final event of the summer season. Expect fresh oysters roasted over an open fire, barbecue specialties, live music and family activities.
It’s the kind of Lowcountry experience that reminds you why so many people return to Kiawah year after year.
And when evening arrives, you can head back toward Freshfields.
Saturday Night: One Last Music on the Green
Freshfields Village is sending summer off with a second night of live music.
Fantasy performs Saturday from 6–9 PM for the final Music on the Green concert of the summer. The event is complimentary, and guests are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs.
Dinner, live music and a warm September evening outside? That’s a pretty good way to close out summer.
Sunday: Discover Local Lowcountry Art
Sunday slows things down a little.
The Seabrook Island Artist Guild Labor Day Weekend Show & Sale takes over the Village Green at Freshfields from 10 AM–6 PM.
Visitors can browse and purchase original work from artists throughout Seabrook Island, Kiawah Island and Johns Island, including oils, watercolors, pastels and pieces inspired by the Lowcountry landscape.
It’s also an easy opportunity to pair local art with brunch, shopping or an afternoon around Freshfields.
Get Outside and Experience Kiawah
Of course, you don’t need an event to fill your Labor Day Weekend itinerary.
Kiawah Island Golf Resort has activities scheduled throughout the holiday weekend, including kayaking, nature programs, children’s activities and other family-friendly experiences. Bike rentals are also available for exploring the island’s trails and hard-packed beach.
Or keep your plans simple.
Bike beneath the live oaks. Spend a few hours on the beach. Play a round of golf. Get out on the water. Take the long way home.
Sometimes the best part of being on Kiawah is having nowhere else you need to be.
Monday: Make Labor Day Last a Little Longer
Before heading home, there’s still time for another Kiawah morning.
Monday’s resort schedule includes tandem kayaking at Mingo Point, family activities, crafts and games.
Grab breakfast, take one more bike ride or squeeze in those final few hours on the beach.
Because leaving Kiawah is usually the hardest part of the weekend.
